Finely restored, Cortile di San Michele is the act of love that the Manera family wanted to return to its territory of origin. A charming B&B, managed in a warm and familiar way, where every detail is designed to welcome guests within a modern and fascinating environment.
The restoration of the structure, under the supervision of the architect Ugo Costantino, took place in full respect of the historical and urban context. Traditional materials have been used: terracotta brick, plaster, wrought iron, wood and period furnishings. The charm of the old house is integrated with contemporary choices: high-tech resin coatings for the bathrooms, "material" wallpapers selected for each room, large and rational rooms, bathed in the light coming from the central courtyard.
The eighteenth-century buildings that make up Cortile di San Michele reveal their typicality in the construction technique of the ceilings, printed and decorated plaster. A unicum in the Piedmont architectural panorama, which, in the Roero area, finds its most particular expression. The nearby chalk mines, in fact, provided a plastic building material that was used for the ceilings. Each house had its own motif and Cortile di San Michele is no exception: between the wooden beams, each room has its decoration, which culminates in the bas-reliefs of the suite on the second floor, whose tiles have the symbol of Saint Bernardino surrounded by heraldic coats of arms and naturalistic decorations.
The common spaces of Cortile di San Michele have been designed with the same care given to the rooms. "Immersive" and exclusive places, with attention to every detail, which reveal the pleasure of enjoying a moment of relaxation and family warmth, before immersing yourself in the vibrant world of the Langhe and Roero hills
